Barack Obama stood before cheering supporters and declared that his presidential center would be a gift to the city of Chicago, a gleaming 19-acre tribute to his legacy paid for by private donations that would cost local residents nothing.
Eight years later, with the center finally open and a grand dedication ceremony featuring Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Bono, and three former presidents behind it, a Fox News Digital investigation has laid bare the distance between that promise and the fiscal reality Chicagoans are now living with. One year after President Donald Trump signed an executive order creating the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, the initiative has cleared 142 homeless encampments throughout the nation’s capital, connected more than 350 individuals to mental health services, removed all known graffiti from the National Mall and Memorial Parks, and reduced the wait time for concealed carry permits from four months to a single day, according to internal data obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller and confirmed by White House statements.
The results represent the most dramatic transformation of Washington’s public spaces in decades, fulfilling a central promise Trump made when he launched the effort in March 2025, weeks after returning to the White House, describing the capital city as having been overtaken by illegal encampments, open drug use, and violent crime under Democrat leadership. Here is a number that the left-wing media will not put in a headline: over a billion dollars a year. That is the estimated annual cost to American taxpayers of the ongoing policy, in force across twenty states and the District of Columbia, of extending in-state tuition rates at public colleges and universities to students who are in this country illegally.
While American citizens from out of state pay the full freight at those same institutions, while the children of legal immigrants who happen to live across a state line pay full out-of-state rates, and while millions of working-class American families take on crushing student loan debt to put their kids through school at the prices their own states charge them, twenty state governments and the DC city council have decided that the one group that most deserves a discounted rate is the group that entered the country in violation of federal immigration law. The logic is not complicated; it is just backward. Read more →
A new threat assessment report has drawn a direct line between rising anti-Christian extremism online and an alleged plot to kill Erika Kirk, the widow of assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk, raising fresh alarm about a climate researchers are now calling an emerging “assassination culture” targeting prominent figures on the right.
The report, produced by the Network Contagion Research Institute, examines the case of Jacob Wenske, a 26-year-old Texas man charged in late May with making a terroristic threat after he allegedly plotted to bomb a Turning Point USA event in San Antonio where Kirk, now the organization’s CEO, was scheduled to deliver the keynote address.
READ MOREHealth and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has reportedly told associates that he has accumulated enough evidence to convince any jury in America, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the Central Intelligence Agency was responsible for the assassination of his uncle, President John F. Kennedy.
The claim, circulated by the Leading Report on June 13 and amplified across conservative media, adds fresh urgency to a controversy that has never fully quieted since Kennedy was shot in Dallas on November 22, 1963. Read more →
The European Parliament has given final approval to the toughest overhaul of the bloc’s migration enforcement rules in decades, clearing the way for member states to build deportation centers outside EU territory and dramatically speed up the removal of migrants with no legal right to remain in Europe.
Lawmakers in Strasbourg passed the so-called Return Regulation on Wednesday by a vote of 418 in favor to 218 against, with 30 abstentions, in a result that confirmed a durable right-leaning majority on migration policy inside the European Parliament. Read more →
A decorated career intelligence officer stepped before a United States Senate committee this spring and testified under oath that Dr. Anthony Fauci did not merely shape the public debate over the origins of COVID-19 from the outside but was actively and personally involved behind closed doors in directing CIA analysts toward conclusions that buried the lab leak hypothesis.
The testimony from James Erdman III, a veteran of more than two decades inside the CIA who most recently served on a joint assignment with the Director of National Intelligence’s Director’s Initiatives Group, represents some of the most direct and specific allegations yet made against Fauci in the now years-long investigation into what American intelligence agencies knew about the pandemic’s origins and how that knowledge was managed, filtered, and in some cases suppressed.
