Vice President JD Vance closed out the Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention with a blistering, red meat keynote address Thursday night in Dallas, delivering a speech that rallied the conservative base while positioning himself as the natural successor to President Trump heading into 2028.

Vance also addressed immigration, an issue that remains a top priority for the conservative base. He argued that Americans finishing school under the previous administration suddenly found themselves competing not against fellow citizens for jobs, but against a surge of illegal immigration that Republicans say overwhelmed labor markets and strained public resources in cities across the country.

The vice president’s speech touched on a wide range of policy areas beyond housing and immigration, including manufacturing, tax policy, healthcare, and what he described as the ongoing battle to protect the American family from cultural and political attacks by the left.
