President Donald Trump said he would like to see the United States host another FIFA World Cup after praising the success of the 2026 tournament. Speaking alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Trump pointed to the event’s strong attendance, global television audience, and the performance of American host cities as reasons to pursue another bid in the future.

The 2026 World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, has been one of the largest sporting events ever held in North America. Stadiums across the three countries welcomed millions of fans during the month-long tournament.

The United States previously hosted the FIFA World Cup in 1994 before serving as the primary host nation for the expanded 2026 tournament. The latest edition featured 48 national teams competing across dozens of cities, marking the largest World Cup in FIFA history.

Trump said the event demonstrated America’s ability to organize major international competitions and highlighted the economic activity generated for host communities through tourism, hospitality, transportation, and entertainment spending. FIFA officials have also described the tournament as a milestone for soccer’s continued growth in the United States.

Sports officials and local organizers praised the cooperation among host cities and noted the strong turnout from fans traveling from around the world. Many also highlighted improvements to transportation, stadium operations, and public safety that accompanied the tournament.

While no future World Cup host has been selected beyond upcoming tournaments, Trump’s remarks reflect interest in keeping the United States involved in hosting major international sporting events. Any future bid would ultimately require FIFA approval and coordination with local organizing committees.

Hosting a FIFA World Cup can generate billions of dollars in economic activity while increasing international tourism and investment. It also places host cities in the global spotlight and can leave lasting infrastructure improvements for local communities.

Although another U.S. World Cup would be years away, Trump’s comments highlight continued interest in using major sporting events to promote tourism, economic development, and America’s role on the international stage.
