JUSTICE: Trump DOJ SUES Radical Tim Walz for Subsidizing Illegal Immigrants

Attorney General Pam Bondi has filed a federal lawsuit against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and his radical administration for violating federal law by providing free and discounted college tuition to illegal immigrants while denying the same benefits to American citizens.

Illegal Alien Privilege Over Americans

The Department of Justice complaint, filed in federal court in Minneapolis, charges that Minnesota’s laws “explicitly classify aliens who are not lawfully present in the United States as residents under certain conditions” and make them “eligible for reduced tuition and free tuition, respectively, for public state colleges while U.S. citizens from other states are denied the same benefits.”

The discrimination is stark and infuriating: illegal immigrants pay about $17,000 per year in tuition at the University of Minnesota, while American citizens from other states are charged more than $38,000. This means Minnesota literally treats foreign lawbreakers better than American taxpayers.

Federal Law Violation Exposed

Bondi explained the clear legal violation: “No state can be allowed to treat Americans like second-class citizens in their own country by offering financial benefits to illegal aliens. The Department of Justice just won on this exact issue in Texas, and we look forward to taking this fight to Minnesota in order to protect the rights of American citizens first.”

Federal law explicitly prohibits states from providing illegal aliens with any postsecondary education benefit that is denied to U.S. citizens. Minnesota is “flagrantly violating” this categorical prohibition, according to the DOJ complaint.

Walz’s Anti-American Agenda

The lawsuit targets Walz, who was Kamala Harris’s disastrous VP pick in the 2024 presidential campaign that contributed to her landslide loss. Walz is known for his extremist positions on transgenderism, abortion, guns, and illegal immigration, making him one of the most radical governors in America.

Minnesota’s “North Star Promise” program provides scholarships covering part or all tuition for illegal immigrants, funded by American taxpayers while excluding U.S. citizens based solely on their legal residency status. This represents the worst kind of America Last policy.

Constitutional Supremacy Violated

The complaint charges that Minnesota is violating the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution with its illegal alien preference agenda. The DOJ seeks to have the court declare Minnesota’s laws “preempted and permanently enjoin their enforcement.”

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, another radical leftist, is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit. The state simply provides recognition and privileges to illegal aliens if they meet several baseline qualifications, such as showing they’ve filed for lawful immigration status.

This lawsuit builds on the Trump administration’s recent victory in Texas, where a federal judge blocked similar illegal alien tuition benefits just hours after the DOJ filed its complaint. The success in Texas proves that courts recognize these state policies violate federal law and constitutional principles.
