Sen. John Fetterman Sounds Alarm on Democrats Planning Another Shutdown

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) said Congress should avoid another federal government shutdown as lawmakers continue debating appropriations legislation and broader budget priorities. During a Fox News interview, Fetterman said shutdowns place unnecessary burdens on federal employees and the public while complicating essential government operations.

Fetterman acknowledged that lawmakers have significant disagreements over spending and policy but argued those disputes should be resolved through negotiations rather than allowing government funding to lapse. He said Congress has a responsibility to complete its appropriations work before funding deadlines expire.

Congress must periodically pass appropriations bills or temporary funding measures to keep federal agencies operating.
