The survey was conducted among 1,500 Likely Voters with a margin of sampling error of +/- 2.5 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.

Rasmussen is one of the few major pollsters that continues to track presidential approval on a daily basis using a combination of telephone and online interviews with likely voters.

On April 6, the rating stood at the same 47% approve / 51% disapprove level (Approval Index -12).

Earlier in the week (around April 1–3), the daily numbers hovered in the mid-40s to low-40s approve range before climbing back to 47%.

For the full week ending April 4, 2026, Rasmussen reported Trump ending the week around 46% in some daily snapshots.

March’s monthly average was steady at approximately 45% approve, unchanged from February according to Rasmussen’s aggregated data.

The 47% figure has been described in some conservative-leaning social media commentary and reposts as a “surge,” particularly when compared to lower points earlier in 2026 or to other pollsters’ results.

Other national polls released in early April 2026 have shown Trump’s approval in the 38–42% range. For example:

Quinnipiac, AP-NORC, and Fox News polls placed approval around 38–41% amid coverage of the Iran situation.

Emerson College showed 42% approve / 51% disapprove.

Rasmussen consistently tends to show higher approval numbers for Republican presidents compared to many other pollsters, a pattern noted across both of Trump’s terms.

The timing of the latest 47% reading coincides with the recent de-escalation in the U.S.-Iran standoff, including the two-week ceasefire announced after Trump’s ultimatum on the Strait of Hormuz. Markets reacted positively to the pause in hostilities, with oil prices dropping sharply.

Rasmussen also reported that 40% of Likely Voters believe the country is heading in the right direction in their most recent weekly Mood of America survey (week ending April 2).

Trump’s approval among key subgroups (such as military voters) has historically polled much higher in Rasmussen surveys — reaching 60% in a March 2026 veteran-focused poll.

Critics of Rasmussen often point out that its likely-voter model and methodology can produce results that lean more favorable to conservatives than the broader polling average.

Supporters highlight Rasmussen’s track record in the 2024 election cycle, where its final national poll showed Trump ahead by 3 points, close to the actual popular vote margin.

As of April 8, 2026, the daily tracking poll remains at the 47% approve / 51% disapprove level seen on April 7, with no major new release shifting the numbers yet.

The 47% mark represents one of the stronger daily readings for Trump in recent weeks according to this pollster, coming after periods where disapproval reached the mid-50s in Rasmussen’s own tracking.
