The Hunter Biden Debate

Hunter Biden has once again demonstrated the shameless double standard that dominates left-wing politics and media.

During a friendly podcast appearance, Joe Biden’s son made an explosive and unsupported claim about the private life of the late Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. Rather than challenge Hunter or demand evidence, the progressive hosts allowed him to turn an unverified allegation into partisan entertainment.

The timing made the episode even more disgraceful. Graham died on July 11, 2026, and Hunter’s interview was published on July 18, only one week after the senator’s death. Graham was no longer alive to defend himself, dispute the allegation, or demand that Hunter produce evidence.

That did not stop Hunter.

During the interview, host Jennifer Welch asked whether Graham belonged to a group of supposedly closeted Republican politicians operating in Washington. Hunter responded, “Everybody knows that Lindsey Graham was gay.”

Hunter offered no documents, named witnesses, recordings, photographs, messages, or other verifiable evidence. He simply made the accusation and expected the audience to accept his Washington connections as proof.

That is not journalism. It is gossip wrapped in political arrogance.

There is no verified public evidence establishing Graham’s sexual orientation, and Graham directly denied similar rumors while he was alive. In 2018, he said, “To the extent that it matters, I’m not gay.”

His denial matters because Hunter’s claim has been circulated as though it conclusively settled a question Graham himself had already addressed. It did not. Hunter’s unsupported declaration remains exactly that: an allegation.

The interview appeared on the IHIP News program in an episode titled “Hunter Biden Unleashes Hell on Trump and Exposes His Dad’s Biggest Failure.” The 79-minute episode was labeled explicit and described Hunter as “MAGA’s favorite target.”

That framing revealed the program’s political posture before the conversation even began. This was not a hard-hitting interview conducted by skeptical journalists. It was a friendly platform designed to let Hunter attack conservatives, mock Republicans, and rehabilitate himself before a sympathetic audience.

The discussion opened with a joking reference to the controversy surrounding Hunter’s laptop. Welch asked which Republican laptops Hunter would most like to examine.

The irony was breathtaking.

Hunter Biden spent years watching Democrats, intelligence officials, and compliant media organizations dismiss, minimize, or suppress reporting about his own laptop. Yet he appeared eager to joke about invading the privacy of Republicans.

Hunter then escalated the conversation by claiming Washington was controlled by what he called a “closeted gay mafia” made up largely of Republicans. He also used the term “closetocracy” to describe this supposed network.

Hunter argued that politicians who conceal their sexuality become angry and direct that anger at others. He offered the theory as though he were delivering a serious political diagnosis, but he provided no evidence connecting his psychological speculation to any specific public policy, vote, or action.

The entire performance exposed the emptiness of the left’s supposed commitment to privacy and personal dignity.

Progressives routinely insist that sexuality is deeply personal. They accuse conservatives of cruelty for discussing private identity and lecture the country about tolerance, compassion, and respect. But when Hunter Biden used an allegation about sexuality to attack a Republican, those principles suddenly disappeared.

The left’s rules are apparently flexible when the target supports Donald Trump.

There is nothing shameful about being gay. The issue is Hunter’s decision to weaponize an unverified claim about another person’s sexuality for political attention. The issue is also the hypocrisy of progressive media figures who claim to oppose outing, stereotyping, and personal attacks yet eagerly amplify them when a Republican is involved.

Liberal coverage portrayed Hunter as boldly “calling out” Republican politicians and emphasized that he “didn’t hold back.” That framing celebrated the aggression while largely ignoring the lack of proof.

A responsible interviewer would have stopped Hunter immediately and asked the obvious questions: How did he know? Who told him? When did he learn it? Could he name a witness? Did he possess documentary evidence? Was he willing to make the claim under oath?

None of those questions appeared to matter. The hosts allowed Hunter to substitute insider swagger for evidence.

Hunter suggested that people throughout Washington knew the identities of supposedly closeted politicians. He pointed to his years living around the capital and his family’s extensive political connections.

But political access does not transform gossip into fact. Growing up inside the Biden political machine does not give Hunter a license to make personal accusations without proof.

The phrase “everybody knows” is often used when a speaker cannot or will not identify an actual source. It creates the illusion of certainty while shielding the claim from scrutiny.

Hunter’s statement followed that familiar pattern. He invoked Washington’s rumor mill but did not identify its participants. He claimed universal knowledge but produced no one willing to confirm it publicly.

Graham died at the age of 71 following what his office described as a brief and sudden illness. His family requested privacy during an incredibly difficult period.

After initially opposing Donald Trump, Graham became one of the president’s closest allies. His evolution from Trump critic to Trump supporter made him a complicated figure within the Republican Party.

America First conservatives frequently disagreed with Graham’s interventionist foreign-policy views. Others questioned his reliability and willingness to compromise with Democrats. Those disagreements were legitimate.

His votes, speeches, alliances, and political decisions were fair subjects for aggressive criticism. His private sexual orientation was different.

An allegation about such a personal matter required evidence, verification, and a meaningful opportunity to respond. Hunter provided none of those things.

Instead, he made the claim days after Graham’s death, when the senator could no longer confront him directly. That timing gave Hunter all the benefits of a sensational accusation with none of the risk of facing the accused.

It was a cheap political shot.

Conservatives should recognize the smear for what it was, even if they had serious disagreements with Graham during his career. Political frustration does not excuse dishonesty, and truth does not become optional simply because the target was an establishment Republican.

The same evidentiary standards conservatives demanded during investigations involving Hunter Biden should apply here.

Hunter has repeatedly complained about the exposure of his own personal life. He and his defenders have condemned the public circulation of private photographs, messages, financial records, and other material connected to his laptop.

Yet Hunter showed little concern for privacy when he had an opportunity to make a humiliating claim about a Republican.

That contradiction reveals the Biden family’s familiar sense of entitlement. Privacy is sacred when Hunter wants protection. Privacy becomes expendable when he sees an opportunity to attack a political opponent.

The progressive media’s reaction was equally revealing. Instead of treating the claim with caution, liberal outlets packaged it as a bold and entertaining attack on Republicans. They focused on Hunter’s provocative language, highlighted the supposed drama, and treated his accusation as another episode in the left’s endless campaign to portray conservatives as secret hypocrites.

What they did not do was establish that Hunter’s claim was true.

Hunter was free to criticize Graham’s political record. He could have attacked Graham’s support for Trump, his foreign-policy positions, his Senate votes, or his public statements. He could have presented a serious argument based on Graham’s documented actions.

Instead, he chose gossip.

That choice says more about Hunter than it does about Graham. It reflects a political culture that rewards personal destruction over policy debate. It also reflects the protection Hunter continues to receive from liberal media figures who rarely subject him to meaningful scrutiny.

A Republican making the same unsupported claim about a prominent Democrat would likely face immediate condemnation. Progressive activists would denounce the statement as dangerous. Media outlets would publish lectures about privacy and identity. Political commentators would demand apologies and professional consequences.

Hunter Biden received a friendly interview.

That is the double standard.

The responsible conclusion is simple: Hunter Biden claimed Lindsey Graham was gay. Graham denied similar rumors while he was alive. Hunter produced no publicly verifiable evidence. The allegation therefore should not be presented as established fact.

The real scandal is not Graham’s private life. The real scandal is Hunter Biden’s willingness to exploit an unverified personal allegation shortly after a man’s death.

It is also the liberal media’s willingness to treat that allegation as entertainment instead of demanding proof.

America needs political journalism grounded in records, evidence, named sources, and accountability. Hunter’s podcast performance offered none of those things. It offered gossip from a member of the Biden family, applause from progressive hosts, and another reminder that the left’s standards disappear whenever Donald Trump or his allies become the target.

Hunter Biden did not expose a Republican conspiracy. He exposed the hypocrisy of a political movement that preaches compassion while rewarding cruelty, demands privacy while encouraging personal smears, and claims to defend truth while refusing to ask the most basic question:

Where is the evidence?
