Marco Rubio just kicked out the family of America’s deadliest enemy

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has revoked the lawful permanent resident status of Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece of slain Iranian IRGC Major General Qasem Soleimani, and her daughter, Soleimani’s grandniece.

Federal agents arrested the two women in the Los Angeles area on Friday, April 4, 2026. They are now in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody pending removal from the United States.

Rubio made the determination that Afshar no longer qualifies for a green card due to her outspoken support for the Iranian regime.

While living in the United States, Afshar promoted Iranian regime propaganda, celebrated attacks against American soldiers and military facilities in the Middle East, praised Iran’s new Supreme Leader, and repeatedly referred to America as the “Great Satan.”

She also expressed strong support for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which the U.S. has designated as a foreign terrorist organization.

Until recently, Afshar and her daughter lived lavishly in Los Angeles as green card holders while holding these anti-American views.

Afshar’s husband has additionally been barred from entering the United States.

Qasem Soleimani was killed in a 2020 U.S. drone strike ordered by then-President Trump. He was responsible for directing attacks that killed American troops.

This action is part of a broader Trump administration crackdown on Iranian nationals with ties to the regime. Earlier this month, Rubio revoked the legal status of Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, daughter of former Iranian official Ali Larijani, and her husband.

The State Department stated that the Trump administration will not allow the United States to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.

Afshar entered the U.S. on a tourist visa in 2015, claimed asylum in 2019, received her green card in 2021 or 2023, and had filed for naturalization in 2025. She made multiple trips back to Iran during this period.

Secretary Rubio announced the decision on social media, confirming the terminations and the women’s placement in ICE custody.

The move comes amid heightened U.S.-Iran tensions and continued military pressure on Tehran by the Trump administration and Israel.

Conservative supporters have praised the decision as a necessary step to protect national security and enforce immigration laws.

Allowing relatives of a top Iranian terrorist to reside in America while publicly backing the regime and cheering attacks on U.S. forces was viewed as unacceptable.

The revocation demonstrates the administration’s commitment to using existing legal authorities to remove threats from within U.S. borders.

Critics may argue the action is overly aggressive, but officials maintain it is a straightforward application of law to individuals who openly oppose American interests.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about fraud or misrepresentation in some asylum and green card applications linked to adversarial nations.
