Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, the second-highest official at the U.S. Department of Justice under Attorney General Pam Bondi, has stated that there is a credible basis to believe LinkedIn co-founder and prominent Democratic donor Reid Hoffman visited Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous private island, Little St. James, often referred to as “Epstein Island.”

This confirmation comes amid ongoing scrutiny surrounding the massive release of Epstein-related files under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law by President Trump in late 2025.

The Department of Justice has released millions of pages of documents, emails, flight logs, images, and videos into the public domain, exposing connections between Epstein and a wide range of powerful figures.

Blanche, during a recent interview or public statement that circulated widely on platforms like X and was reported by outlets covering the Epstein case, was pressed on whether certain high-profile individuals, including Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, and Reid Hoffman, had been cleared of any involvement or presence at Epstein’s properties. He stated that he was not aware of evidence placing Gates or Clinton on the island, but affirmed his belief that Hoffman had admitted to being there.

This aligns with Hoffman’s own public statements and with material found in the released files. Hoffman has expressed regret over his associations with Epstein, describing them as connected to fundraising efforts for MIT, particularly involving former MIT Media Lab director Joi Ito.

In posts on X following the file releases, Hoffman acknowledged visiting the island once and framed the trip as part of that professional context.

He has denied any knowledge of or involvement in Epstein’s criminal activities, stating that he “did nothing illicit” and observed nothing improper.

Emails uncovered in the DOJ document release further corroborate the visit. One 2014 exchange shows Hoffman sending gifts to Epstein’s New York residence, including ice cream “for the girls” and another item intended “for the island.”

Additional records from Epstein’s scheduling and correspondence reference Hoffman’s trip to Little St. James around November 2014, which is consistent with Hoffman’s later disclosures.

Conservatives have pointed to these revelations as evidence of hypocrisy among left-leaning elites and major figures in the tech industry who publicly fund progressive causes while maintaining associations with a convicted sex offender and child trafficker.

Hoffman, a major Democratic donor who has supported anti-Trump efforts and various progressive initiatives, has drawn particular scrutiny in contrast to figures like Elon Musk, who has publicly clashed with Hoffman over their respective connections to Epstein.

The DOJ’s document release has not resulted in new criminal charges against Hoffman or others mentioned. Officials, including Blanche, have emphasized that association or even documented visits do not in themselves establish criminal conduct.

No material in the public files has emerged showing that underage victims were present during Hoffman’s reported visit, and no accusers have directly implicated him in Epstein’s trafficking operation.

Even so, the acknowledgment from a senior Trump administration Justice Department official has intensified calls for further transparency and accountability.

President Trump has directed investigations into Epstein’s connections with several prominent Democrats, including Hoffman, Clinton, and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers.

Supporters have framed these efforts as part of a broader push to expose elite misconduct that they argue went unchallenged for years.

Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s convicted associate, was interviewed by Blanche in 2025, and a transcript of that interview was later released.

In her statements, Maxwell denied direct knowledge of Hoffman traveling with Epstein but offered limited information regarding other individuals.

Her responses have been closely examined for inconsistencies, though they do not directly contradict the available evidence indicating Hoffman’s visit to the island.
