Senator John Fetterman Hospitalized After Heart Flare-Up

Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was hospitalized following a fall during an early-morning walk near his Braddock home. His office reports that the cause was a flare-up of ventricular fibrillation, a serious heart rhythm disorder, which led to light-headedness and the subsequent fall. He sustained only minor facial injuries and, as of the latest reports, is stable and under observation while his medication is being “fine-tuned” in hospital care.

Fetterman’s health record has been under scrutiny for some time. In 2022 he suffered a major stroke, triggered by atrial fibrillation (an irregular upper-chamber heart rhythm). He also has cardiomyopathy and a pacemaker with defibrillator, implanted to manage his condition.
