1: John Fetterman Is More Popular With Pennsylvania Republicans Than With His Own Party, New Poll Finds

A new NYT/Philadelphia Inquirer/Siena poll shows the Democratic senator underwater with his own party but soaring with the GOP.

A new New York Times/Philadelphia Inquirer/Siena College poll of Pennsylvania voters finds Sen. John Fetterman’s approval is net -41 among his own Democratic Party (22% favorable to 63% unfavorable) while it’s a stunning net +52 among Republicans (73% favorable) — outpacing even Pennsylvania’s actual GOP senator, Dave McCormick, among Republican voters. Siena Research Institute director Don Levy said of the numbers, “If you didn’t know any difference, you would immediately assume that Fetterman and McCormick are both Republicans, and that Fetterman is an extremely popular Republican senator amongst Republicans.”

Why It Matters to You: With roughly two-thirds of Pennsylvania Democrats saying Fetterman backs Trump too often, and Senate Republicans publicly saying they’d welcome him into their conference, the poll captures a sitting Democrat whose own base increasingly views him as a man without a party. 2: Gavin Newsom Vows New Lawsuit After Supreme Court Lets Trump’s Mail-In Voting Order Proceed

The Court’s conservative majority handed the administration a procedural win, and California’s governor is already promising round two.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Monday to lift a lower court’s injunction blocking part of President Trump’s mail-in voting executive order, finding that California and other challenger states lacked standing to sue over the order’s DHS citizenship-verification provision at this stage — a procedural ruling, not a decision on the merits. Gov. Gavin Newsom fired back on X, “Following today’s SCOTUS ruling, California WILL SUE again to BLOCK Trump’s attack on mail-in voting! Every eligible voter gets a mail-in ballot here — and we’ll fight to keep it that way,” while California Attorney General Rob Bonta added that “today’s decision was not a ruling on the merits, and this fight is far from over.”

Why It Matters to You: The ruling doesn’t settle whether Trump’s order is ultimately lawful, but it lets DHS move ahead on compiling state citizenship-voter lists while a separate USPS ballot-barcode rule stays blocked for now — a real, if partial, win for an administration that has made mail-ballot integrity a signature priority. 3: Chuck Schumer Endorses the Democratic Socialist Who Campaigned to Replace Him

The Senate Democratic leader is dodging questions about his party’s leftward lurch — even as he backs a candidate who called him “dangerous.”

Sen. Chuck Schumer has endorsed Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, a self-described democratic socialist who won his primary after declaring on the campaign trail, “If you’re Chuck Schumer, I’m dangerous,” and pushing to replace Schumer with Sen. Chris Van Hollen as majority leader. Schumer’s endorsement called Democrats “united by a common purpose: putting a check on Donald Trump,” but when pressed on the DSA’s rising influence, he dodged questions about campaigning alongside El-Sayed, saying only, “Look, the bottom line is we’re going to win Michigan.”

Why It Matters to You: Schumer insists Democrats are still a “big tent party … united on the major issues facing America,” but embracing a candidate who wants him gone exposes how little control he has over his party’s leftward drift heading into the midterms. Read more →

4: Karoline Leavitt Announces Next Move as Trump Jokes She ‘Loved Her Children More’ Than Him

The outgoing press secretary is headed back to Trump’s super PAC — but not before the president got in a few parting jabs.

Karoline Leavitt confirmed she will join Trump’s MAGA Inc. super PAC after wrapping up her final weeks as White House press secretary, telling reporters, “You guys will still see me all the time.” She called the decision “bittersweet,” explaining she could not balance the demands of the job with being the mother she wanted to be to her two young children. President Trump has ribbed her twice in four days over the move, joking at a rally that she “decided she loved her children more than she loved Donald Trump. I’m very upset about this.”

Why It Matters to You: Leavitt’s departure closes out roughly a year and a half as the face of the administration’s messaging operation, and her return to MAGA Inc. signals she’ll stay a visible player heading into the midterms even as the West Wing searches for a successor. Read more →

5: Trump Confirms ICE Enforcement Proceedings Underway Against Ilhan Omar Over Immigration Fraud

A new FOIA denial confirms federal agents are actively investigating the Minnesota congresswoman’s immigration history — and the case is far from closed.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed, in a formal records request denial, that its investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar’s immigration and marriage history remains an open enforcement matter. The agency stated flatly that “Disclosure of any responsive records at this time could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings,” invoking a federal exemption reserved for active cases. Border czar Tom Homan has previously vowed the administration won’t let the matter drop, declaring “We’re pulling the records, we’re pulling the files.” Vice President JD Vance has echoed the suspicion, saying “It certainly seems like something fishy is there.”

Why It Matters to You: For years, allegations that Omar married her brother to skirt immigration law were dismissed by her camp as “categorically ridiculous and false,” but they were never resolved by DNA evidence or a court finding. Now that ICE itself is confirming an active file, the pressure on the sitting congresswoman is only intensifying. Read more →
